Kieran Housden is the Deputy Director of Strategy, Engagement and Policy at the Government Digital Service, and has a wealth of experience across policy, strategy and operations across the public sector. At GDS he is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the digital function and ensuring the government delivers its mission of improving digital services for users. In his role, he also oversees the work of the economics and policy teams within the organisation. Prior to joining GDS, Kieran spent three years at the Department of Health overseeing the implementation of NHS Improvement's hospital efficiency programme, and before that was the Head of Better Workplace Pensions at DWP, designing policy and legislation to protect the interests of savers. He has also worked outside the civil service, previously spending 18 months as a NHS operational manager. He holds a Executive Masters in Public Management from at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
