Royal Voluntary Service is a charity that enriches the lives of more than 100,000 older people and their families across Britain by providing vital support in the home, in hospital and in the community. Through these services our volunteers help older people stay happy, healthy and independent.
Our Good Neighbours and community transport volunteers offer a helping hand for those who might find getting out and about difficult. These small acts of kindness go a long way towards alleviating the devastating loneliness that can set in when leaving the house alone becomes a problem.
Our Home from Hospital services provide an essential form of support for older people who are returning home after a hospital stay. We have found that help on a return home can reduce hospital readmissions by 50 per cent.
