The YLCSC members all arrived in the UK as unaccompanied minors. They’ve been supported by services at The Children’s Society and are now in higher education and volunteering. As a group, they know their lives would have been different if they had someone there to guide them throughout their asylum process. In 2020, they went to Scotland to learn about the guardianship scheme and heard first-hand about the impact of guardians. They’ve handed in a petition to the government calling for guardians and are meeting with decision makers.
Although they are now at the age where they will not benefit from having a guardian, they want other children to not go through the difficulties they’ve experienced.
Today, they want you to hear about their campaign, pledge your support and help them to make change, support their campaign for legal guardians for all separated Children.
