Sue is a qualified as a Social Worker in 1988 and have always specialised in the field of Learning Disability. She has worked in a variety of settings, within both the voluntary and statutory sector, including Day Centres, group homes, supported living and residential services and local authority Learning Disability Teams. She has been involved in remodelling residential homes to become Supported Living and reprovision of long stay hospitals.
Sue has worked as an Independent Consultant/Social Worker since 2005 and has recently been providing specialist input to the Essex County Council Ageing Well project. This has included the creation of Toolkits for Ageing Well with Learning Disability, for both Social Workers and Service Providers, to help support practice change and reduce the number of people with Learning Disability who die unnecessarily of treatable or preventable conditions.
