Following a serious road accident, finished a qualification for Hotel and Catering management and worked in the health service, in various capacities, for over 35 years before retiring on health ground as an Assistant Commissioning Manager in 2002.
Until recently a trustee of National Association of Patient Participation and a former Trustee of Spinal Injuries Association. Chairperson of both Patient Participation Group at Mansfield Medical Centre and Wheelchair User Group in Coventry. Currently trustee of Crossroads Care Coventry and Warwickshire and continues an interest in health issues as a tutor, assessor and trainer on the Living with Long Term Conditions Course (Expert Patient Programme). Also has been involved in writing and delivering a course for carer’s in Coventry with Crossroads Coventry & Warwickshire, called the V.I.P course. Recently was appointed to be a Lay Representative on the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Group at Warwick University Medical School, Coventry and is a member of the Coventry Access group.
Enjoys raising funds by catering for functions at the local community centre, researching family history and driving.
