Ex-Rugby League player who now is the Director of Saints Community Development Foundation, the charitable arm of St Helens RFC. Working with partners around our community with the main aim of making a difference through sport. The foundation runs a large number of initiatives surrounding the needs of the community, tackling the inhibitors that so often stop people from making their own choices.
Steve retired from playing at the age of 41 after injury and took up coaching at junior level. Progressing to professional coaching at Saints with the Academy U19s side, touring six times to Australia and coaching at International level with the Latvian National side in the 2017 World Cup. He is a Safeguarding Ambassador for the Rugby Football League delivering safeguarding courses to all new sporting recruits. Also, Steve works in Coach Education, delivering level 1, 2 and 3 coaching courses to budding new coaches and nurturing their talents through development. Talent identification is another role he performs at the club, as part of the development team on the lookout for the next crop of St Helens players. Steve is married with three grown up children and eight grandchildren, so there is always a birthday party or two on the go to fill up any spare time !!
