Dr. Stephen Lorimer is the Smart London Strategy and Delivery Officer at the Greater London Authority. He develops the Mayor of London’s smart city policies and programmes. City Hall’s goals are to improve the lives of Londoners, deliver better public services through technology, data, and innovation. He is the co-author of The Future of Smart: Harnessing digital innovation to make London the best city in the world and Digital Masterplannning: An Emerging Strategic Practice in Global Cities. Before entering public service, Dr. Lorimer managed UK research council funding for technology to solve societal challenges in the Sustainable Society Network programme, took on energy and transport data challenges in doctoral and post-doctoral research at The Bartlett, University College London, and was an urban design and regeneration consultant to local authorities.
