Simon joined Marie Curie as their first Head of Policy and Public Affairs in Wales in July 2012. He was appointed to the UK Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the end of 2015. Prior to that he had been with headhunters Odgers.

Simon started his career at a news magazine, Rebecca, in Wales before working as a Research Officer, first for the T&GWU and then the Wales TUC. He spent 10 years as Chief Executive of the Wales Co-operative Centre which under his leadership became the largest such agency in the UK.

Simon Chaired Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust for over six years and before that Chair of Bro Taf Health Authority. He first became involved in the NHS as a member of South Glamorgan Health Authority in 1989.

He has been a Trustee of the Industrial common Ownership Fund and a member of the United Kingdom Co-operative Council. Simon chaired the independent Commission which reviewed the National Assembly for Wales’ Voluntary Sector Scheme and was a member of the Council of Cardiff University. He was also an Independent Board member for RCT Homes. He has presented two Radio Wales Series on fly fishing.

He was a Charity Commission Board member for five years.

Born in London of Welsh parents Simon Jones moved to Wales after reading Politics at Exeter University.
