Sara has been combining nursing and complementary therapy with end of life care at St. Luke’s Hospice, Cheshire. Before this Sara worked on a busy orthopaedic clinic whilst running her own part time Therapy Business. Choosing to study at the Christie, Manchester she gained specialised knowledge for Therapies in practice designed for Palliative and Cancer Care.
At the beginning of her nursing career Sara worked in the Intensive Care field with a special interest in neuro science. This interest continues through her work with Dementia today. She now combines her learning to help others deliver a specific programme of care for advanced dementia.
Sara now works in the Advanced Dementia Support Team at The End of Life Partnership and is working with organisations in Cheshire to help implement Namaste Care. This is a programme of care is designed to enhance the wellbeing of those who have advanced dementia. An environment is created that focuses on the value of the five senses - Touch, Sound, Taste, Vision and Aroma which enhances communication, for those who find it difficult.
