Sam Smith has over 14 years’ experience in the safeguarding arena in various roles. She has been involved in numerous multi-agency work programmes throughout her career promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people in Hampshire. This has included the oversight of multi-agency audits, Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, learning and training. Sam has also had extensive involvement in safeguarding infants including the roll out of ICON in Hampshire and the Every Sleep Counts programme, where Sam received an award from Hampshire County Council in recognition of her work.
Sam was pivotal in the development of the HSCP Virtual Offer in 2020; ensuring that multi-agency practitioners in Hampshire could continue their safeguarding training and learning throughout the COVID-19 pandemic through a variety of live webinars, lunchtime learning workshops and eLearning modules. Although face-to-face training is now being incorporated back into the HSCP training programme, the Virtual Offer has remained and continues to grow with over 50 different virtual courses now being offered with a total number of over 17,000 delegates having accessed the virtual training since its inception.
