Ruth Hannan is Policy and Development Manager for Mental Health at Carers Trust. She leads on the Triangle of Care project originally developed in mental health but now being used for dementia also. Ruth oversaw the “Road Less Rocky” research study into the experiences and needs of carers of people with dementia; the research highlights ten key points where carers would benefit from information, advice and support.
Ruth has worked with carers in a variety of roles over the past seven years in Manchester and is a trained counsellor. Prior to this, Ruth managed a record shop. She continues to be interested in music and regularly attends gigs – although she misses all the freebies from her record shop days she definitely doesn’t miss the backache. In her spare time Ruth is project lead on a community project called Gorgeous Gorse Hill.
