Richard leads the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, an organisation that connects NHS, academia and industry to facilitate change across whole health and social care economies, with a focus on increasing economic growth and improving outcomes for patients. Prior to this Richard was the AHSN’s Commercial Director providing executive leadership on all commercial, innovation and wealth creation objectives.
Previous roles include the Head of Commercial and International Innovation at NHS England and also the Managing Director of NHS Global, promoting UK health care expertise to international markets. Prior to this Richard created the NHS Innovation Challenge Prizes. He was a core member of the NHS National Leadership Council, and has previous acute and commissioning senior management experience. He joined the NHS from the BBC as a graduate trainee, and is also an alumni of the NHS Top Leaders and NHS Breaking Through programmes.
