Renata is the Chief Executive of self management uk, a position that she has held since December 2010. Prior to this, Renata was a Non-Executive Director of the organisation from July 2008.
In common with over 70% of self management uk staff and volunteers, she lives with several long-term health conditions herself, and therefore has both a personal and professional interest in health sector issues, with a strong focus on the improvement of outcomes for those living with long-term health conditions, for which she is a passionate advocate.
Apart from her self management uk role, Renata has wide ranging health sector experience. She is a currently a Board member of the Self Care Forum and a Trustee of National Voices. She is also a Non-Executive Director at the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). She is also a Director in the property and infrastructure arm of Capita Plc, the UK’s leading provider of integrated professional support service solutions.
Renata’s professional background is in management consulting, and she has specialised for some 27 years in offering strategic, feasibility, funding and change implementation advice at Board level in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Her work has been in private, public and voluntary organisations in the leisure and health sectors, where she has facilitated change at all levels.
Other health sector experience includes two terms as an elected Trustee of Diabetes UK, the largest patient member charity in the UK, as well as being Non Executive Director of NHS North Essex Primary Care Trust Cluster, a Non Executive Director of Barking Havering & Redbridge University NHS Trust, where she set up and chaired the Improving Patient Experience Group and, more recently, a Non Executive Director of The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, where she chaired the Charitable Funds Committee.
Renata lives with her husband in Buckhurst Hill, and enjoys ballroom and Latin American dancing.
