Anya leads the User Involvement and Service Improvement research theme at Salford University’s Institute for Dementia. She has a background in social policy and sociology. Prior to becoming an academic she was previously employed by a local authority and housing association in policy and housing management roles. She has also worked as a freelance trainer and consultant. Anya has led a range of externally funded projects focusing on the needs and experiences of less heard communities and older people and has conducted a number of evaluations. She has led a number of projects focusing on BME communities and dementia, including the Somali Dementia Aware Project funded by Camden CCG and the Salford CVS funded Promoting Diversity and Inclusiveness in Dementia Service Project.
