Tony Clayson has been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon for 28 years, established the NW Pelvic Major Trauma Service and has held posts of Clinical Director, Divisional Medical Director and is currently Consultant Lead for Staff Well Being at his NHS Trust. He openly shares that earlier in his Consultant career he experienced well being difficulties and recognised that, despite being an experienced clinical leader he lacked the skills to identify and seek advice for these challenges.
Having taken on a role as his Trust’s lead for staff well being he has observed that medics often struggle to seek advice and he is committed to facilitating culture change to address this.
He continues to deliver a busy surgical practice and is a trained Schwartz Round mentor and facilitator with the Point of Care Foundation supporting other Trusts in NW deliver Schwartz Rounds.
He is a registered mentor with the NW Leadership Academy.
