Urgent Care: Reducing Avoidable Admissions

Matt is engaged in the research and development of innovative workforce transformation projects, intended to address regional and national Emergency and Urgent Care workforce shortages. Since taking up post in April 2013, Matt has worked to prepare and delivered a portfolio of pilot projects under the direction of the Postgraduate Dean, National Programmes Director (HEE) and Directors of Education Quality. Projects to date include a UK-first pilot work to investigate the role of Pharmacists in the ED; leading delivery of: an innovative Post-CCT GP Fellowship in Urgent and Acute Care; a portfolio programme to provide targeted EM “shop-floor” training for SAS doctors; a multi-disciplinary Advanced Practice pilot; national support for delivery of the Physician Associate agenda; international workforce projects.
