Mandy is a registered Biomedical Scientist who qualified in the 1980s. Mandy trained in the traditional way rotating around pathology whilst she completed her (then) State Registration, honours degree and Master of Science. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science, Member of the Institute of Healthcare Managers, and Affiliate of the Governance Institute: ICSA. After working in operational management and improvement within an acute trust she moved into improvement audit, and has worked mainly in Wales for the last 15 years, both with Wales Audit Office, Healthcare Inspection Wales and Inspection Wales, and most latterly with Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust. Her improvement work covers the range of healthcare systems from primary and community to acute and tertiary services, with a focus on the impact of culture on team and organisational success. She is now Associate Director Patient Safety Collaborative for the North West Coast Patient Safety Collaborative, leading Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative locally and national co-lead.
