Liz is the North East, North Cumbria and Yorkshire Hub Director for Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) which is a national clinically-led improvement programme working with NHS Trusts in England across 35 clinical work streams. Liz has previously worked on the NHS RightCare Programme as the Delivery Partner for CCGs in the North East and North Cumbria. Prior to this, Liz was Joint Deputy Director at the North East Quality Observatory Service (NEQOS) and supported providers, commissioners, the regional Academic Health Science Network and Health Education England to use ‘measurement for improvement’ across a wide range of health conditions and areas of healthcare. Liz has a Master’s in Public Health focusing on Health Care Management from Harvard University and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health following speciality training in the North East. Liz has also worked in senior physiotherapy and academic roles in the UK, US and Australia with over 22 years of NHS experience. Her academic work included 4 years as an Orthopaedic Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School where she led an international study of care pathways and outcomes for knee replacement which was the subject of her PhD.
