Kate has spent nearly thirty years working in the public sector, having worked in the NHS for many years as a Public Health Specialist working on a wide range of health improvement strategies and programmes. Kate has also worked in local government within the fields of adult social care and education. Kate’s career has primarily been focused on improving children and young people’s health and well-being, but she has also worked on many other areas such as population based screening and immunisation programmes. Kate started her career in the 90’s working for the Commission for Racial Equality, before moving on to work in the voluntary sector, working for a number of disability charities whilst studying part-time for her Masters in Public Health.
Kate currently works for NHS England and NHS Improvement in the Learning Disability and Autism Programme as the Specialist Advisor on Primary Care. She is presently overseeing the development of the sensory checks programme for children and young people with a learning disability and/or autism in special residential schools.
