Julie Snell is the Managing Director for Bristol is Open, a joint venture between University of Bristol and Bristol City Council developing an open programmable city. Julie has 16 years' experience in the telecoms industry, including the early technology start-up of the UK Mobile and Wi-Fi, where she was part of the BT Openzone Public Wi-Fi leadership team. She has great enthusiasm and passion for innovation that improves the quality of people's lives.
Julie has a wealth of business expertise gained through her time at BT and the Wireless Broadband Alliance, where she represented BT as board member and Chair of the global Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). An industry association, which has major telecom operators and technology companies as it members. Julie was instrumental in driving the strategic vision to establish public Wi-Fi governance in the legal / technology / billing and customer experience areas. Latterly Julie has been working with the WBA's Connected City Advisory Board engaging the Smart City experts from around the world.
