Heathrow Airport has invested £11bn in improvements for its passengers since 2003.
The speaker, Julian Foster, is a Delivery Director on the new £2.5bn Terminal 2 Programme which is due to open to passengers in 2014.
Prior to this he was Programme Director accountable for the delivery of the Western Campus at Heathrow. Key projects included: an extended and refurbished check-in at Terminal 4; the refurbishment of Terminal 3, and the new £400m satellite building at Terminal 5.
As part of Heathrow’s Development Directorate Julian is the Head of Profession for the Project/Programme Management Division. Accountabilities include: training, career development, and driving professional accreditation.
Earlier in his career Julian led the major refurbishment works in Terminal 1, where his Team were among the top 3 finalists in the Project Management Institute’s Project of the Year award. He was also independently referenced as one of the Top 30 Global Programme Leaders in 2009 (NCE).
Julian is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Member of the APM and Fellow of the RICS. He is passionate about driving best practice in Project/Programme Management throughout the Industry and has lectured in Programme Management Studies at several academic institutions.
In 2001, he undertook an MBA at London Imperial Business School (Tanaka) specialising in Leadership and Knowledge Management within the construction environment. He is a firm believer in the need to transfer learning within organizations and that 95% of project success is achieved by ‘getting the basics right’.
