John is an Economics Director in NHS Improvement’s Economics team. He began his career as an economist in the Government Economic Service and worked for 10 years as an economist and senior policy adviser across a range of Government Departments including HM Treasury. Notably, he led the HM Treasury work on the NHS’s 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review settlement. From 2008 to 2014, John worked in the NHS. This included operational, performance and strategy roles in a commissioner, an acute hospital and a community provider. Immediately prior to joining NHS Improvement, John was Director of Strategy at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.
