Jane Ashworth OBE is Chief Executive Officer of national sports charity, StreetGames.
StreetGames is a national partner of Sport England and works to develop sport in disadvantaged communities to make sport accessible to all young people, regardless of their income or social circumstance. The charity participated in the consultation process for the new Government strategy, and was used as an example of an organisation successfully using sport for social good.
Working in close cooperation with the Board of Trustees, Jane guides StreetGames in delivering the benefits of sport to disadvantaged communities.
Prior to co-founding StreetGames, Jane worked at Sport England for ten years, the Community Strategy Units of Salford and Newcastle City Councils, the Youth and Community Service in Kirby and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on government policy to bring together sport with regeneration policy.
Jane was awarded the OBE for services to community sport in HM The Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2011.
