Jan qualified in 1988 and is currently the Lead Nurse for Emergency Medicine at Salford Royal Foundation Trust. She has worked in Acute Medicine for the last 15 years and appreciates the importance of developing inpatient services for older people, whilst creating an environment that allows safe mobilising and promotes independence.
Jan has a degree in Rehabilitation (2003) with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, (2011), and strongly believes that a business approach to caring for patients provides equitable resourceful outcomes. She is published in a number of disciplines, including clinical decision making (2002), end of life care (2002, 2013) and career pathways for nurses in Acute Medicine (2016).
Emergency Medicine at Salford Trust includes a 49 Bed Complex discharge planning ward which predominantly cares for older people awaiting further care.
