Grace Hathaway
  • Bio

Grace started her career in 1990 as a care assistant in a large hospital for people with intellectual disabilities. She felt strongly about wanting to make positive changes in the lives of the people she was working with and qualified as intellectual disabilities nurse with Hertfordshire university.
In 1995 she moved back to Ireland and has worked there since. Most of her career she has had the privilege of supporting adults on the autistic spectrum across residential, day and outreach services and she has an advanced certificate in autism from Birmingham University. As she became more involved in developing and delivering staff training, she came to recognise the opportunity being a trainer gave her to influence organisational culture and to advance a person centred and human rights approach to all aspects of service delivery. Promoting the principles of fairness, autonomy, dignity, equality and respect. Grace joined CPI in 2021 and feels that one of the real strengths in the training is the values and trauma informed principles that underpin the course. She believes that values reflect what is important to the way you live and work.
