Edward Kanu is a qualified Nurse and the ward Manager of Betts ward, an Acute Mental Health Admission ward in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. He joined Oxleas in 2008.
He is a huge advocate of patients’ experience and social inclusion within Oxleas NHS Trust and has put in place various programmes to ensure the patient’s voice is heard.
He currently runs the Patient Experience based Co-design on Betts Ward with Neil Springham, the first of its kind in mental health services within the UK .
He started his career with Forensic Mental Health services, then went on to be a charge Nurse at a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. He has also managed Mental Health Triage ward.
Edward holds a Diploma in Mental health Nursing, a Bsc (Hons) in mental health Practice, a Bsc (Economics) and an Msc ( Health Policy & Finance) from the London School of Economics (LSE).
