My name is Tinuola Gunwa, fondly known as Tinu. I am a psychiatry specialty doctor currently working with the Priory. I am the Clinical Director, Mental Health Services at Global Healthcare Solutions (GHS) and also the CEO of Heritage Gardens-‘where young minds flourish’
I was born in Lagos and immigrated to dublin, Ireland in my early teenage years as an unaccompanied minors asylum seeker.
I attended St. Lawrence College, Loughlinstown where I did my Irish Leaving Certificate and proceeded to Trinity College Dublin where I graduated with my BSc (Honours) Nursing degree. I went ahead to study medicine in AllSaints University School of Medicine, Dominica, I spent two years of this time in Chicago undertaking my clinical clerkship before obtaining my MD in 2014.
My passion for psychiatry and Clinical Education led me to further pursue a MSc in psychiatry from Cardiff University and a PGCert in Clinical education from Plymouth University. I am extremely passionate about the well-being of asylum seekers having walked in their shoes. My MSc dissertation was on the ‘Mental health needs of unaccompanied minors asylum seekers in the UK’.
I am married and blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. I love the family unit and I am an ardent advocate of a good work and family life balance.
