Dr Nicholas Taylor-Mullings is Vice Principal at a secondary school in south London where he is responsible for behaviour, personal development and safeguarding. Prior to this, he was a Senior Assistant Headteacher in a community school in Hackney where he led on behaviour, inclusion and safeguarding. In addition to teaching in secondary schools, Nicholas has taught in sixth form colleges in London.
Nicholas has also held several roles in local government. His most recent post was Head of Extended Services & Early Years at the London Borough of Sutton where he led on early years and child care provision, Sure Start children’s centres and child poverty policy. Prior to this, he was a Programme Manager at the London Borough of Lambeth where he led on integrating services for children disabilities and Special Educational Need.
In a number of roles, Nicholas has been involved in race equality policy. In Hackney, for example, he was a member of the borough’s education group focused on improving the outcomes of young black men and as a local governor he has been involved in equality, diversity and inclusion across the curriculum. In recent years, he has also spoken and written about race, education and school leadership.
Nicholas is a proud resident of Lambeth, in London where he is an independent advisor to the Metropolitan Police and a Trustee of a multi-academy trust.
