Dr Neera Dholakia works as a GP in West London where she is a Mental Health Clinical Commissioner for West London CCG and the Lead GP for Safeguarding.
She has worked in a variety of general practice roles including at HM Prison Holloway, which has influenced her work in mental health, having seen how mental health issues and particularly perinatal mental health issues can influence the health and wellbeing of the mother, child and family and is often pervasive through generations. She is currently chairing a large programme of transformation to improve perinatal mental health for women and their families in North West London, from preconception through to one year postnatal, in a joint commissioner and provider collaboration. In addition to her mental health work, she regularly trains GPs, practice nurses, trainees and hospital practitioners in safeguarding children and adults, as a facilitator with social enterprise Confident Safeguarding.
