Martin Ansell completed his undergraduate medical training in Nottingham, graduating in 1992.
He obtained his CCST in general adult and old age psychiatry in 2002 and took up his first substantive consultant post in old age psychiatrist in Salisbury in 2003.
After a couple of years working in old age psychiatry in Wellington New Zealand, he took up his current post in Gloucestershire in the summer of 2006.
As well as his clinical commitments he is currently clinical director of older persons mental health services at 2gether NHSFT. His special interests include memory assessment and dementia, liaison psychiatry, mental capacity and ECT.
