Dr Miele established the Perinatal Mental Health service at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, in 2009 in partnership with the St Mary’s maternity unit. She has a clinical background in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and completed a PhD in neuroscience at the department of Physiology at Oxford University. She trained in General Adult Psychiatry at the Maudsley, Bethlem and St Mary’s Hospitals; she has an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry and formal training in infant mental health (Care Index and Parent Infant Interaction Observation Scale). She is a member of the Perinatal Faculty Executive and the Perinatal Quality Network Advisory Group of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the College representative for the Maternal Mental Health Alliance. Dr Miele has been heavily involved in perinatal mental health service development and chaired the the North West London division of the London Perinatal Mental Health Network for NHS England from 2013 to 2016. She co-authored the London Perinatal Mental Health Care Pathways endorsed by the Mental Health Strategic Clinical Network and is the creative director of the animation movie “ Building Better Perinatal Mental Health services” available on the Perinatal mental health webpage (http://www.londonscn.nhs.uk/networks/mental-health-dementia-neuroscience/mental-health/perinatal-mental-health/). In December 2016 she was appointed Clinical Lead of the Perinatal Mental Health Service for CNWL -FT.
