Dr Andy Sowter has over 30 years experience using satellite radar data in applications as diverse as agricultural monitoring and 3D stereo mapping. In the last decade or so, he has developed an expertise in satellite interferometry and subsequently developed an entirely novel method to derive land motion parameters over rural areas, attracting the ire of the scientific community who have still not yet solved this problem. In 2015, he was the co-founder of Geomatic Ventures Limited, a company set-up to exploit this important development in satellite technology which continues to attract customers in mining, infrastructure and peatland monitoring.
