Dom Smithies is the Influencing and Advocacy Lead at Student Minds. Dom has been with the team for over four years, joining them in 2017 after working as the Community & Wellbeing Sabbatical Officer at the University of York's Students' Union for a year. In his role at Student Minds, Dom is responsible for the policy, insights and student voice areas of the work within charity. He's been a part of projects focused on understanding how to improve our wellbeing measures, embedding wellbeing in curriculum & pedagogy, improving clinical pathways in the NHS as well as a number of projects and pieces of research focused on tackling health inequalities by understanding the challenges and needs of particular student communities (LGBTQ+ students, male students, international students, students of colour, students from low-SES backgrounds and students that are distance/ part-time learners).
