Deborah Bakare is the senior social worker at AFRUCA Safeguarding Children and she is based at the Centre for Black Children and Families in Manchester. As part of her role, Deborah works with families to provide cultural assessments and positive parenting interventions to black and other ethnic families intending to develop their knowledge and skills in order to improve their parenting. Deborah also provides education and awareness on UK laws as it relates to Safeguarding children as well as advice on specific cultural practices and how they are understood within the Child Protection system. Deborah also delivers specialist trainings to practitioners as it relates to engendering positive engagement while working with black and ethnic families and communities.
