Cherry Russell has been with Age UK for nearly four years, in her time there she has developed and managed a number of projects with a focus on improving older people’s health.
Cherry manages the Health and Wellbeing team who manage a portfolio of projects. The team started with the fit as a fiddle BIG lottery funded project seven years ago and has evolved to include a number of other projects. The current portfolio of projects includes ‘Get Going Together’ which works to encourage people with long-term health conditions to be more active and ‘Inspire and Include’ which gets disabled older people into sports with the help of volunteers who go through an Age UK accredited training programme.
More recently Cherry has been developing a well-being project which joins up services across Age UK so that users of other Age UK services are made aware of physical activity groups and other services in their area they may benefit from.
Prior to working at Age UK, Cherry worked on projects for a range of not-for–profit organisations and charities.
