Asantewaa Brenya joined UK Sport in May 2014. Before joining UK Sport she worked in the public sector, providing corporate and project governance advice to boards in housing and local government. Prior to working in the public sector, she spent 15 years in the voluntary sector working with NGOs such as Save the Children, Age UK and a national medical research charity, Ataxia UK. Her experience from the voluntary sector includes corporate fundraising, major donor fundraising, event management and charity governance.
UK Sport is the strategic lead body for high performance sport in the United Kingdom, and invests public funds to enable British Olympic and Paralympic athletes to maximise their chance of medal success. The Governance and Leadership Team at UK Sport work with funded national governing bodies and partners in which UK Sport invests to establish and operate robust governance standards.
