Allison O’Donnell (RNMH) is the Practice Development Nurse for learning disability services across Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board, her career in learning disability services spans over 30 years.
In her role as a learning disability nurse she has worked with many professional organisations and services making a valuable contribution to supporting people with learning disabilities their families, carer’s and peers when there is a need for palliative care. She has encountered and negotiated the many barriers people with learning disabilities face during their palliative care journeys and has an unequivocal commitment to challenging these.
Allison led the award winning project Learning Disabilities and Palliative Care: Building Bridges- Supporting Care , funded by the Scottish Government and hosted by the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice (2012-2015). Allison is coordinator of the Scottish Branch of the PCPLD Network and is actively involved in the Management Group of the National Steering Group.
