Steve Thomas
  • Bio

Steve has been the Director for the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) for the last four years and was part of the commissioning team in 2004. SWLEOC is one of the largest joint replacement centres in Europe and has consistently delivered high clinical outcomes.

Steve is a RGN and has worked in various hospitals including Southampton University Hospital and St George’s, Tooting. Before commissioning SWLEOC he established a minor head injuries unit; had the lead for introducing Integrated Care Pathways for patient care and commissioned dedicated beds for planned orthopaedic surgery. Steve is of the firm belief that if we can just get quality right – and keep focus on the patient – then the money will look after itself.

Steve is married to Kirsty and they have three children. Lego, football and mermaids now form a significant part of home life. His greatest two home achievements are beating his eldest son on a computer game (once) and actually having the last word (and yes, only once)!
