Sarah Waller is the Programme Director for the King’s Fund’s Enhancing the Healing Environment  (EHE) Programme. She joined the King’s Fund in 2000 to develop the programme having had experience of working at all levels in the NHS and in the Department of Health both in nursing and human resource management.

The EHE programme has, or is currently working with, over 240 teams from organisations across the country that deliver health and social care services, including acute and mental health trusts, hospices, prisons and care homes, to improve the environment of care.

The programme has most recently focused on improving environments for end of life care for both patients and relatives and in developing more supportive design for people with dementia in hospitals.

Sarah was a member of the independent Liverpool Care Pathway Review Panel chaired by Baroness Julia Neuberger. She is a judge for the Building Better Healthcare Awards and was a member of the Design Council’s Advisory Group for its ‘Living Well With Dementia Challenge’.  A former non executive director and vice chair of the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust Sarah was appointed CBE for services to Nursing and the NHS in 2008.
