Jane was appointed Assistant Director of Nursing and Improvement at Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN) April 2014. As a system integrator the AHSN works on behalf of its member organisations, galvanising capability, skills and assets in the Greater Manchester system, to deliver sustainable change and adoption of innovation at pace and scale.

In 2015 Jane was selected to join the inaugural ground-breaking national Q initiative. The initiative connects people dedicated to improving the quality of care across the UK. The initiative will make it easier for people from all parts of the health system with expertise in quality improvement to share ideas, enhance their skills and introduce changes to make care better for patients.
Jane joins 231 others in the Founding Cohort of Q from front-line clinicians, managers and researchers, to policy makers and patient leaders.

Prior to these current activities Jane held senior nursing roles including Assistant Director of Nursing at Salford Royal Foundation NHS Trust. Her areas of interest include Long term Conditions, the patients’ experience of healthcare, service development and workforce planning, which was reinforced by a 12 month secondment to the DH Long Term Conditions Care Group Workforce Team.

After undertaking the role of programme co-chair for the British Renal Society (BRS) annual conference, Jane was elected as the first Vice-President in 2005. She was subsequently elected Vice Chair for the Kidney Alliance (KA) and the first non-medic President for the BRS 2009 – 2012.
