Stephen is the independent chair of Salford’s Adult Safeguarding Board. He has undertaken this role for some 12 years. Stephen’s interest in adult safeguarding began in the 1980’s when he was a professional social worker working with older people. As a social worker he worked with a number of older people who were the subject of abuse and neglect at a time when our understanding of the issues was only just emerging.

Stephen’s interest in safeguarding has continued through out his professional life including working at Salford University from where he retired earlier in the year.
