Dr Simon Abrams is Chairman of Urgent Health UK, a federation of 24 Social Enterprise Urgent Care Providers from the UK and Ireland, representing 47% of Out of Hours services in England and Wales. The federation is unique in requiring its members to take part in an annual audit and benchmark in order to maintain membership. Dr Abrams has been involved in Out of Hours primary care in 1998 when he was appointed as a Director of the Liverpool GP Co-operative Liverdoc. The organisation won the Liverpool contract in 2004 and Dr Abrams was appointed its medical director. In 2008 he was appointed as medical director of Urgent Health UK and in 2014 elected chairman. He also works as a GP in Everton, Liverpool and is national secretary of the Family Doctor Association.
