Angela Probert started her career in retail management and has worked across both the public and private sectors throughout her career. Since January 2016 she has held the role of Strategic Director, Change and Support Services at Birmingham City Council responsible for HR, Customer services, Procurement, IT, Communications, Policy, Performance and Insight. She is also responsible for the organisational change programme Future Council to transform the council and deliver significant budget reductions at a particularly challenging time for the council and broader public sector community.
Previously she worked at Nottingham City Council as Strategic Director, HR and Transformation and throughout her career has worked in both large and small organisations and also as a consultant working with the public sector. She is passionate about public service and the talent and commitment of those working in the sector.
Her mantra throughout her successful career has been to ‘believe in yourself and what you can achieve, be passionate about what you do, use experiences in life to influence future choices, network like mad and don’t take no for an answer!’
As a parent with two daughters in their twenties, she is proud of the progress they are making in their chosen careers.
To unwind from the day job, Angela enjoys walking, baking and experiencing the extensive cultural offer in Birmingham.
