Andy Burnham is the Mayor of Greater Manchester.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2001 and served as a Home Office Minister before joining the Cabinet in 2007. He served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury until 2008, Culture Secretary for eighteen months and Health Secretary for the final year of Gordon Brown’s Government.

He served as Shadow Health Secretary until the 2015 General Election and was a candidate in last year’s Labour leadership contest. After which he became Shadow Home Secretary.

In May 2017, Burnham gave up his seat as the MP for Leigh as he was voted in as the first Mayor of Greater Manchester.

He is married to Marie-France, has three children and supports Everton.
