Alan has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
Following 10 years oil refining experience with Exxon, Alan transferred to the upstream with Exxon and trained in reservoir engineering. Alan then moved into the independent O&G sector in 1996 with LASMO, working internationally. Alan’s career progressed internationally with assignments in Cairn Energy and, Tullow in various operational and development leadership roles. Alan joined Roc Oil in 2008 and was appointed CEO in 2010. Following the successful sale of Roc Oil, Alan joined Afren as CEO in 2015 and moved-on to Third Energy in 2017, where he assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer.
